Other Notes: Vixen is one of our "New Years 10" rescues! She came from a shelter in NC where she arrived as a stray. She is a mature girl but still has a spunk in her step! So far she has been very sweet and interactive. She loves to snuggle under blankets and go for easy paced walks. Vixen has glaucoma and takes eye drops daily to help manage her condition.
Dog Friendly: Good with some dogs - but best fit as only dog
Cat Friendly: Not good with cats
Child Friendly: Good with kids
Other Notes: Barnaby was found wandering the streets of Mississippi in horrible condition. He is badly injured and we believe he was used as a bait dog for some time. He has many scars and fresh wounds. He could barely walk and was totally emaciated. He has been with us for several months and has made almost a 100% recovery. Barnaby is a happy, lovable boy who is going to be a great fit for a family.
Other Notes: Dixie is part of our New Years rescue pull! She is an older boxer is super sweet, knows basic commands, and is looking for a loving retirement home. She has done wonderful in her foster home with cats and dogs. She is laid back but enjoys walks/field trips. Dixie does have some incontinence, but takes a daily medication that helps her from having accidents.
Other Notes: This special boy has gone through so much and he isn't even 6 months old yet. Being found as a stray with a horribly large mass on his neck, leg deformities, ear issues... phew!
Luckily Frankie has a large family of supporters and excellent vet care. His mass has been removed and he is doing great with his recovery. His ears have been surgically corrected and are also on the mend. Frankie also saw a orthopedic specialist - which confirmed that his leg deformities are not something can be fixed.
Frankie will always be a "special" boy and after great care at our vet, the surgical specialist, and NC State - we now know he has a confirmed rare medical condition called "Ehlers-Danlos". It explains all of his ailments and sadly there is no cure. We will continue to follow vet orders and keep him as comfortable as possible for as long as he is still a happy pain free boy.
Keep posted as Frankie is going to go on some special Frankie speed adventures.
Other Notes: Paisley came to us from Isle of Wight Animal Control. We dont know anything about her past but she is a wonderful gal! She is well mannered in the home, goofy and ready for affection, and enjoys a nice relaxing afternoon on a doggie bed or couch. She enjoys other dogs company and to go exploring with her people on fun outings.
Other Notes: This wonderful middle aged hound came to us from the Isle of Wight Animal Control. She was one of their "long timers" and spent a few months at the shelter waiting for someone to fall in love. Our rescue did and she has been doing fabulous in her foster home. She is adjusting to the "house dog" lifestyle and her foster family has reported that she is such a great girl and LOVES kids!
Other Notes: Mr. Bruce came to us when he was found as a stray and no owner came forward to claim him. He is middle aged and in need of some special attention - but he found the perfect foster family who is already working on his training and behavior.
Other Notes: This older beagle boy came to us from Virginia beach animal control. His owner sadly was rushed to the hospital with cardiac issues and he needed a safe place to go. He is now in foster care and is adjusting to life with other dogs. He LOVES children and to be spoiled rotten.
Other Notes: Pip is a super sweet gal who came to us from isle of wight animal control. She is shy but super loving once she gets to know you. She is most comfortable around children and other dogs. She came to us with a skin condition but is under vet care and her skin is healing fast and before long she will be fully recovered. Pip does know how to jump a short fence so supervision is key when playing outdoors and a 6ft fence in her new home is ideal.
Other Notes: Jack is such a sweet boy ready to be spoiled. He did not have the best past but he is looking forward to a wonderful future. Jack spent many months at our local shelter with no luck at adoption. He has done fantastic in his foster home, getting along with dogs, loves to snuggle, and very well mannered in the home. He does have some stranger anxiety but a nice introduction and he is ready for love!
Other Notes: Winnie is a middle aged pittie gal who found herself in a rural shelter in NC after her owners surrendered her. She was underweight, recently bred, and heartworm positive. She has fully recovered and ready for her forever home. Winnie does suffer from separation anxiety so she is looking for an understanding family who has someone home most of the time or the ability to go to work with her new Mom and/or Dad.
Other Notes: This pretty lady is Meela (AKA "Lu"). She is a youthful high energy girl looking for an equally active family. She needs a lot of exercise and mental stimulation daily to keep her happy and well balanced. Meela has some "stranger danger" issues (mainly towards men) so her new family needs to be willing/able to continue working with her to overcome her anxieties. Once Meela knows you she is so sweet and cuddly and loves attention/affection. She enjoys going on outdoor adventures with her family and has so much potential.
Other Notes: Meet Zeeta! She is short in stature but big in heart. She came to us from our local animal shelter where she had been for a while with no luck at adoption. She is already settling into her foster home and is such a happy girl. She is house trained and good with dogs. She loves to snuggle and she is very generous with her kisses!
Other Notes: This wonderful lady is Porsche! She is about 10 years old, medium sized (working on a diet), well trained, lovable, and all around a great companion. She was at our local shelter for many months and we decided to welcome her into a great foster home until her new family found her. She had a large fatty tumor on her neck which we had removed and she is now fully recovered and ready for her new home. Are you looking for a well mannered laid back house buddy to be your companion? Do you have lots of soft beds and enjoy a nice stroll down the block? Porsche has so much love and joy to add to a family during her retirement years.
Other Notes: Luna is back and ready for fun! This 20-25 pound super adorable girl is only about a year old, full of spunk, and ready for her forever home. She has some "stranger danger" issues so she needs an understanding family who will be willing/able to continue her training. She is SUPER smart, eager to please, and LOVES to cuddle. Did we mention her adorable underbite?! EEEK :D
Other Notes: What a handsome boy Easton is! He is all puppy and ready for fun. Easton is very social and loves to meet and make new friends. He has a lot of energy and loves to play and wrestle with other dogs. Easton is highly intelligent and needs daily mental stimulation to keep him happy and well balanced. He came from a shelter in Mississippi so past history is unknown. We do know he had a previous pelvic/hip injury when he was much younger, which healed incorrectly causing one of his back legs to be a little wonky. Our vet does not feel he needs any corrective surgery at this time because he gets around with no issue, but later in life he may need a new hip - but not certain.
Other Notes: Timmy the T. Rex came from a shelter in North Carolina where he was abandoned by his owner. He was born without front paws as well as missing a few toes on his back feet. This amazing little boy has special needs, but does not let that affect his spirit. He is affectionate, loyal, and courageous. Timmy will be remaining in our rescue indefinitely, representing us as our "K9JL Mascot". :)
