Other Notes: Vixen is one of our "New Years 10" rescues! She came from a shelter in NC where she arrived as a stray. She is a mature girl but still has a spunk in her step! So far she has been very sweet and interactive. She loves to snuggle under blankets and go for easy paced walks. Vixen has glaucoma and takes eye drops daily to help manage her condition.
Other Notes: Ricardo is a goofy little boy! He loves playing, meeting new people, playing with dogs, and simply having fun. He was very matted and had to be shaved down, but his hair is fully grown in and he looks very handsome.
Other Notes: Barnaby was found wandering the streets of Mississippi in horrible condition. He is badly injured and we believe he was used as a bait dog for some time. He has many scars and fresh wounds. He could barely walk and was totally emaciated. He has been with us for several months and has made almost a 100% recovery. Barnaby is a happy, lovable boy who is going to be a great fit for a family.
Other Notes: Dixie is part of our New Years rescue pull! She is an older boxer is super sweet, knows basic commands, and is looking for a loving retirement home. She has done wonderful in her foster home with cats and dogs. She is laid back but enjoys walks/field trips. Dixie does have some incontinence, but takes a daily medication that helps her from having accidents.
Other Notes: Winnie is a middle aged pittie gal who found herself in a rural shelter in NC after her owners surrendered her. She was underweight, recently bred, and heartworm positive. She is on her way to recovery and will be an amazing family addition. Great with kids and dogs, well mannered in the home - this gal is ready for a lifetime of commitment.
Other Notes: Terra is a sweet medium sized girl who we pulled from our local animal control shelter. She was surrendered by her owners and Terra was totally petrified and heart broken. She is settling into her foster home - so better photos and updates will come soon. This girl needs a forever home - not a "when its convenient" one.
Other Notes: This special boy has gone through so much and he isn't even 6 months old yet. Being found as a stray with a horribly large mass on his neck, leg deformities, ear issues... phew!
Luckily Frankie has a large family of supporters and excellent vet care. His mass has been removed and he is doing great with his recovery. His ears have been surgically corrected and are also on the mend. Frankie also saw a orthopedic specialist - which confirmed that his leg deformities are not something can be fixed.
Frankie will always be a "special" boy and have some limitations. His legs will be something he will learn to live with, he cannot do any strenuous activity - but he can play, go for walks, and hopefully we can get him to learn to swim. As he ages he will get arthritis in his legs so he is on joint supplements and also has to be kept thin to take pressure off his joints.
We hope Frankie will live a long and happy life - and we will do everything we can to help him do just that.
Other Notes: Paisley came to us from Isle of Wight Animal Control. We dont know anything about her past but she is a wonderful gal! She has a large hernia requiring surgery which we will be pursuing for her. She is also in need of a dental and a spay. We believe she was never in a home before coming into the rescue, but she is learning quickly about the spoiled house dog lifestyle. She is sweet as pie and just wants to be loved and get lots of treats and snuggles :).
Other Notes: This wonderful middle aged hound came to us from the Isle of Wight Animal Control. She was one of their "long timers" and spent a few months at the shelter waiting for someone to fall in love. Our rescue did and she has been doing fabulous in her foster home. She is adjusting to the "house dog" lifestyle and her foster family has reported that she is such a great girl and LOVES kids!
Other Notes: This funny little pup came to us from the Isle of Wight Animal Control. She came to the shelter very small and had mange - but she was treated and is on the path to full recovery. She is spunky, playful, and ready to learn. We dont know her breed or how big she will get - so her family needs to be ok with whatever she may be.
Other Notes: Timmy the T. Rex came from a shelter in North Carolina where he was abandoned by his owner. He was born without front paws as well as missing a few toes on his back feet. This amazing little boy has special needs, but does not let that affect his spirit. He is affectionate, loyal, and courageous. Timmy will be remaining in our rescue indefinitely, representing us as our "K9JL Mascot". :)
